Denver Dumb Friends League will be holding its annual fundraiser, "Pledges for Pets Telethon," on Sunday January 25, 2015 from noon to 5pm (MST). During the telethon, viewers will have the opportunity to see adoptable animals, hear heartwarming adoption stories, and see what's going on at the biggest animal shelter in the Rocky Mountain Region. Viewers can watch the telethon on FOX31/KDVR. Viewers who wish to donate to Dumb Friends League will have the opportunity to do so by phone, text message, or online during the live telethon.
This year, Dumb Friends League hopes to raise more than $300,000. According to Dumb Friends League's website, the organization spends more than $25,000 each day to provide companion animal services, including veterinary services in its shelters and reduced-cost spay/neuter surgeries in its two mobile clinics. Bob Rohde, President and CEO of the organization stated, "Viewers will see the many ways the Dumb Friends League helps pets, horses, and people in our community. They'll also see how their donations can make a life changing difference for thousands of homeless animals that come into our care every year."
The Dumb Friends League is a nonprofit organization that provides services to pet owners and homeless animals. Last year, 17,656 pets and horses were returned to their owners, adopted to new forever homes, or transferred to partner facilities by the organization. In addition to helping pets find new forever homes, Dumb Friends League provides rehabilitation to formerly abused and neglected horses, behavior training for pets, animal cruelty investigations, humane education, and reduced-cost spay/neuter surgeries, subsidized by donors, in underserved communities.
Hill's Science Diet is sponsoring this year's Pledges for Pets Telethon, which will air on FOX31/KDVR. Murphy Huston and Denise Plante from KOSI 101 will aid in emceeing the fundraiser.
Animal lovers who are not able to watch the telethon may give a donation by texting the word "PET" to 41444, giving online, or calling 303-751-5772.
