Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone!!

We bet you all know what day it is......IT'S TURKEY DAY!!

Milita and Jewel are looking forward to the turkey today the most, but do you know what I (Carmine) am looking forward to?

THIS because I LOVE the white stuff that goes on top!  Whenever the mom buys the kind in a can, I come running from wherever I am when I hear hers take off the cap.

We also want to share some things we are thankful for today.

We is thankful for our momsy because hers loves us so very much.  Hers takes good care of us, and even though hers is late with our dinner sometimes, hers gives us lots of love.

We is thankful to have a nice furever home to live in that's warm and cozy.  We wish every kitty had a nice furever home to call their own.

We is thankful for all the toys and catnip the mom buys us.

We is also very thankful for all of YOU - all our wonderful friends!  We is thankful for all the support and love that you have shown us over the years.  We love you all very much!

We hope everyone who is celebrating today has a Happy Thanksgiving!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Before I get to today's post, Jewel could really use some purrs and prayers.  She has not been feeling well.  If she doesn't start improving by later this morning, she will be going to the vet later today.

Murphy

Cat Care Society, Lakewood, Colorado

Hi everyone! My name is Murphy.  I'm a very handsome 6-year-old black mancat.  I would love to find a human to love.  I would really like a human who will play with me a lot as I'm an active cat.  I love to cuddle and talk, too.

I am neutered, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and litter box trained.  If you'd like to come visit me at Cat Care Society, you can find me in the Gold room.

Don't forget: For the entire month of November, all black cats at Cat Care Society are "name your price" as part of the "Back in Black" adoption event.

UPDATES

Ducky and Mo were both adopted this month!  Thank you to everyone who has shared kitties available for adoption with all of your friends. :)

Milita: Mom, get that flashy box out of my face; i'm trying to have a nap here!

We hope you are all having a nice Easy Sunday!

No Box Shall Go to Waste

The Mom here.  Thank you everyone for the outpouring of support, love, concern, purrs, and prayers for my health.  I appreciate it so very much!  I will update you all here once I have some news from the specialist.  The whole situation seems a little less scary with all of the purrs, prayers, support, and love surrounding me from all of you!

Carmine: "No box shall go to waste."  Isn't that a commandment?  If it isn't, it should be!

The Mom had one of those rare moments when she had a good idea.  Hers took the box we got our pawsome Interactive Feather Wand in and put my bed in it for me!  Me loves to curl up and sleep in my bed in a box.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

The Mom spent all of Tuesday recovering from her appointment, so we haven't made it to all our friends to visit lately, but we're working on it.  The doctor hers went to said she didn't know what to tell the Mom, so now hers has to go see a specialist in January.

This is our beautiful friend Charlene at Cat Care Society.  She is available for adoption, and you can read more about her here.

Remember, you can name your price on any black cat at Cat Care Society throughout the entire month of November!

Mancat Monday + Winners Announced

I went to a seminar about taking care of aging cats on Saturday at Cat Care Society.  It was very informative, and Dr. M is always happy to answer questions.  I'll talk more about that in another post, though.

Here I am with my good friend, Mason, after the seminar.  I think he just eats up all the attention at these things; he's too cute!  He's still seeking a forever home.  You can read more about him in my post here or on Petfinder.

WINNERS

I used RANDOM.ORG to select the winners for the "Communication with All Life" giveaway.

Congratulations:

Sushi from Sushi's Diary

Please look for an e-mail from us requesting your shipping addresses.

We hope you enjoy the book and meditation CD as much as the Mom did here! :)

By the way, the Mom has a very important (and stressful) appointment today, so we probably won't get around to visit all our friends until Tuesday.  Sorry everyone.  We hope everyone has a great day!

Review of The Natural Pet Company's Interactive Feather Wand

We bet you've been wondering what was the box we got in the mail!

There were lots of good guesses: a scratcher, books, treats, nip....but it wasn't any of these things!  What we got was a feather toy from The Natural Pet Company to play with and review!

The Interactive Feather Wand for Cats comes in two parts.  Simply take the bottom half and snap it into the top half to assemble it.  It was very easy to put together.  You know, you have to keep things simple for the humans.

The Mom asks you to please excuse her boxes.  Hers still has some unpacking to do around here.

Milita: I wasted no time in attacking the feather!  I love things that fly in the air.

Carmine: I did a lot of my playing from the box the toy came in.  It was a lot of fun!

The mom says the wand is nice and light, so it's easy for her to swing around and make the feather fly for us.  The cord is also a nice length.  The Mom believes that a child could play with a kitty with the wand without getting accidentally scratched or chomped when kitty is going after the feathers.

Jewel was more interested in watching me and Milita play than playing herself.  That's okay.  That gives me more time to kill the feather!

The Mom says the toy comes with THREE feathers that can be used with the toy.  She said that the hooks on the feathers are like fishing lures, which were difficult for her personally to deal with due to hers weak hands.  She likes that there are three different feathers to put on the wand, though.

The Mom wants to remind kitty parents that it might be a good idea to put the wand toy up out of reach when they are done entertaining you with it because hers doesn't want any kitty to chew through the cord and get hurt.

We had lots of fun with this wand toy, and we think lots of other kitties would like, too!

Thank you, The Natural Pet Company for giving us the opportunity to play with and review this toy!

Disclaimer: The Natural Pet Company sent us the feather wand toy and two additional feathers to review.  This did not influence our opinions.  All opinions and thoughts expressed are 100% our own.

What's in the Box?

The mom has been slacking this week in helping us visit our friends and posting here.  We apologize for hers laziness!

Carmine: A BOX!! It's mine!

Carmine: Wait....maybe there's something in it for me, too....

Milita: What's in the box?

We hope you will all come back on Sunday to find out what was in the box!  Anyone have any guesses?

Happy Friday, everyone!

There's still time to enter our giveaway!

Opt to Adopt: Mo

Mo

Cat Care Society, Lakewood, Colorado

Photo taken from Mo's Petfinder profile page.

Hi everyone.  My name is Mo.  I'm a very handsome black ladycat with medium-length furs.  I'm classified as a senior kitty because I'm a little over 15 years old, but I'm still young at heart, and I love to play!  Because I'm a senior kitty, I'm covered by the Perpet-U-Care program, which will cover a portion of my veterinary care for the rest of my life.  That's a cool program.

I'm a quiet and affectionate girl.  I would prefer to live in a calm and quiet home without other cats.  I am declawed, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and am spayed.

Since Cat Care Society is participating in the national 'Back in Black' adoption event, you can name your price for me throughout the month of November.  Won't you stop by and play with me for a little while?  I'll show you why I make a great companion!  You can find me in the purple room.  Hope to see you soon!

Communication with All Life Book/CD Review and Giveaway

I was thrilled when I received the opportunity to review "Communication with All Life: Revelations of an Animal Communicator" by Joan Ranquet.  I always want to connect with my fur babies on a deeper level, and this book teaches you how to do just that.

The book has two parts.  In the first section, Joan Ranquet details her experiences as an animal communicator while in the second section she shares valuable tools and information about how you can communicate with animals yourself.  I love how Joan uses stories of animal communication experiences she's had to illustrate concepts.

One tool I've personally utilized with my own cats is affirmations.  Positive affirmations can help you communicate desired behaviors to animals.  I was a little skeptical about this tool because it sounds so easy!  I decided it was definitely worth a try though.  I try to keep an open mind about new things.

The behavior I wanted to get Jewel to engage in was to lay on my bed with me at bedtime instead of staying in her cube.  Staying in her cube isn't a bad thing.  I just enjoy her company on my bed, and I sleep better when I have a cat near me.

So I started saying things to Jewel in my "what a good cat voice," like, "Jewel loves sleeping on my bed with me at night.  Mommy loves Jewel to sleep by her.  Jewel loves to be near her mommy.  This is special Mommy and Jewel time."

Before I knew it, Jewel was spending more time on my bed when it was bedtime!  In fact, last night, she slept with me for hours!! I can definitely tell you that the affirmations are helpful in getting your pets to engage in desired behaviors.

Joan also has a meditation CD that accompanies her book.  Her meditation CD is called "Communication with All Life: Guided Meditation."  Joan takes you through a guided meditation that helps you release your thoughts and emotions, which allows you to be open to receiving messages from animals.

Joan's book and CD are both excellent tools for learning how to communicate with animals.  I believe anyone who desires a deeper connection to animals will enjoy the book and CD.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Joan Ranquet is an animal communicator and founder of Communication with All Life University.  She facilitates the human/animal bond through private sessions, speaking engagements, teleseminars, and workships.  You can learn more about Joan Ranquet by visiting her website.

Brietta - Beautiful and Intelligent

Brietta

Cat Care Society, Lakewood, Colorado

Hi!  My name is Brietta.  I'm a gorgeous short-hair black kitty.  I'm intelligent and friendly.  In fact, when I was a stray cat, I walked into a college office one day.  I wanted to take some courses, but they misunderstood me and brought me to the shelter instead.

I can be nervous at times, and it might take me a little time to get used to you.  But when I know you, I am affectionate.  I like being petted and held.  I'll even sit in your lap!

Since I'm nearly 13 years old, I'm covered under the Perpet-U-Care program, which will cover some of my veterinary expenses for the remainder of my life.  That's pretty cool, isn't it?

You can find me in the upstairs hallway.  Won't you come see how awesome I am for yourself?

Cat Care Society was recently accepted as a 'No More Homeless Pets' partner by Best Friends.  Cat Care is participating in the national 'Back in Black' adoption event, which runs for the entire month of November.

During the month of November, all black cats are "NAME YOUR PRICE."

Please stop by the shelter, located at 5787 W. 6th Avenue today to check out all of the available kitties for adoption.

Easy Like Sunday

Milita: I'm enjoying my Easy with some bird TV!  Any kitty care to join me for the show?
