Great places for cat lovers!

Recently I've discovered a couple of great places for cat lovers.

The first one is Cat Channel. They have a ton of fabulous information and resources. Their article library is vast. They have articles on cat health, nutrition, and behavior. I have read some really interesting articles on there already. One of the most thought-provoking articles I read was on weather cats feel emotions.

Cat Channel also has items for entertainment purposes. You can send cute cat e-cards from this site. You can also take polls, quizes, and view photos. The forum on the Cat Channel site allows you to share stories about your cat with other cat lovers.

Another great cat site is ASPCA. Go to the "community" section of the site and you will be able to chat on the forum with other cat owners and lovers. Or visit the ASPCA blog and read about the advocacy they do for animals.

Orange cats

Orange felines are notorious for being "crazy". But crazy doesn't even begin to describe the depths of Carmine's personality!
Carmine is certainly active - he chases Milita up and down the apartment hallway all the time. Sometimes, though, he runs up and down the hallway and around the apartment for no apparent reason and it's quite amusing to watch him running around meowing like crazy. :)
Carmine is loyal. He is very protective of me, which is very cute to see. Just the other day, he started meowing at Emma when she tried to steal the food off my plate when I wasn't looking! Carmine also curls up on or next to me and nuzzles me when I'm crying or not feeling well. Somehow he knows when he's needed and he rarely fails to show up when he is most needed!
Carmine is also sort of pesky in a helpful way. Every morning when my alarm clock goes off, he hops up on my bed (if he's not already there) and begins to crawl on me and telling me (with lots of meowing) that it's time for me to wake up. He also plops down across Dave's computer keyboard or heads for the "shut down" button on the keyboard when he knows it's time for Dave to go to sleep.
Carmine's got a lot of quirks, like eating anything that isn't edible, but I wouldn't trade him in for anything in this world. He's a wonderful companion, and I look forward to sharing more fun stories with you.

Story

My cat, Milita, LOVES catnip. Whenever we give her some, she is crazed by its effects and she can never seem to get enough.

Knowing this about my cat, my boyfriend and I bought her a little burlap bag of catnip when we were out shopping one day.

We gave it to her right away when we got home and, as predicted, she went nuts over it! She played with it for maybe an hour or so before she had ripped the bag into pieces to get the straight catnip!

It was quite amusing to see the strength Milita had when she really wanted something!

Life lessons

I love this picture of Carmine because it illustrates how absolutely adorable and crazy he is! We quickly discovered Carmine will eat anything that is NOT edible!

His laid back attitude toward life has taught me many good life lessons. First, he constantly reminds me that life is not all about work. We all need some time to play, rest, and rejuvenate ourselves.

Second, he reminds me that no matter what kind of day I'm having, I can always count on Carmine to be a source of comfort and unconditional love. Oftentimes, we get depressed, lonely, or struggle with difficult times. Cats remind us that there are wonderful blessings in the world around us.

Finally, Carmine reminds me how important confidants are in everyday life. As independent as all of us, as Americans, try to be, we cannot deny the fact that we all need support from others, whether that be from friends, family members, teachers, preachers, counselors, or even our pets. Cats can serve as the listening ear, comforter, or shoulder to cry on that we undoubtedly occasionally need.

Paying it back

Our pets do so much for us. They love us unconditionally, they comfort us when we feel sick or depressed, they sleep on our laps when we're reading, and they play with us to cheer us up. It's time to do something in return for your cat. Spend some time playing with her today. Scratch his ears or back. Feed your cat a can of wet food. Spoil your cat the way your cat spoils you!

Ice cream

My cats love ice cream. Every time I eat it, I give them just a little bit on my finger and they go nuts over it! I found out yesterday, though that pets have a hard time digesting dairy products because of the lactose in them. I also found out there is an ice cream made especially for cats! Cool Claws, it's called. I wonder if anyone reading this has given this to their cats? I'm going to keep an eye out for it, myself, because it seems like my cats would just love ice cream that doesn't upset their tummies. :)
