Milita's Memories

Milita with a bag of catnip on the kitchen floor in our second apartment.
One day, D and I were out and about, and I came across this little fabric bag full of catnip. It smelled good to me, so I got it for the kitties. Lita did I know then just how much Lita liked catnip...

I came home and put the bag on the floor in the kitchen so the kitties could check it out.

Carmine didn't even get a chance to sniff it before Lita started attacking the bag. She grabbed it, gnawed on it, kicked it with her feet..

.
She was having a great time with it!

Not even two hours later, she had managed to tare a hole in the bag! I had no idea she liked catnip that much.

After that, I started buying her more catnip toys. She really loved Yeowww! catnip toys, and thankfully, they held up to her chewing and kicking.

I still have their very first Yeoww! catnip toy - they got it a good 10 years ago. It's all beat up and dirty, but the kitties refused to let me get rid of it. Now, that toy is going into Lita's memory box.

Please stop by again on Wednesday. We have a very special announcement to share with all of you! :)

  2. I have a take it or leave it attitude towards catnip. I guess it's an age thing?

  3. It's funny how some cats love it more than others. Flynn used to go crazy for nip just like Lita, but Eric had no interest at all in it.

  5. Awww, we remember how much she loved nip. We have a small nip pillow that belonged to angel Ruby and she loved that thing until it was a worn frazzle.

  6. You would think the old toys would be less popular than the new fresh ones. But we have ones "previously owned by angel kitties" that are still very popular. That's a nice thing for Lita's memory box.

  7. Da Boyz ripped a hole in their NipNanner within hours of receiving it! I sewed it up, but they tore it open again. So, I just let the cat nip sprinkle out, and sweep...I'll get a new one for them soon.

  8. Thanks for the sharing such a great memory. At home I just gave my kitty a catnip mouse and I never saw her do so much running around in my life. This will be a wonderful thing for you to put inside Lita's memory box. Have a wonderful day.

  9. I can take or leave nip but Lita took it and left it ripped apart. I like the freudian slip—Lita did I know rather than Litter did I know.

  10. That's so sweet. I've always kept beloved toys from kitties past as well.

  12. What a funny & sweet memory. Lita so much like Nylablue. Nylablue was so laid back; so calm...when I brought a catnip pouch home I really didn't think she would even notice....well I was so-o wrong...Nylablue dove into the cag with the cat food & dug out the 'nip pouch & ran off with it....Our girls were so wonderful....thank you for sharing Milita's Memories...they always make me smile.

  13. Minko was a nip fanatic too. He would open the packages in the drawer if I left them open by mistake...oops! He always stole Pipo's portion so I had to give it to them in separate areas.
How cool that the original Yeowww toy still is there now.
