Thankful Thursday

Lita hangs out on the floor with one of her toy mice.
Hi everyone, it's Lita today, and we are joining Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

The Mom was talking to her friend, J, earlier this week, updating him about life and how Carmine and I are doing.  The Mom has known J since college, and they have been good friends a long time.  In fact, J helped the Mom a lot when she thought I was headed to the Rainbow Bridge at Christmas.  He called a bunch of vets and places to find out who did in-home euthanasias because the Mom couldn't handle it.  Now she has a lot of options when the time comes, but I don't plan on going anywhere for a while - you all are stuck with me!

I have really been struggling with my arthritis lately.  Sometimes I even show my pain, which I never do unless the pain is really bad, so the Mom knows it must hurt a lot.  She has been keeping me comfortable with some pain meds, but she really wanted to get me on this stuff called Adequan.  Angel Jewel used to get it for her arthritis.

So, the Mom was telling J about how she wanted to get me on this Adequan stuff but it costs a lot to start with because you have to start with a high dose and slowly go down to a maintenance dose.  The Mom said it is like what we did with Carmine and his B12 injections - he has been on his maintenance dose of once a month for a while now.

Anyway, J sent the Mom enough green papers to get me a bottle of this Adequan stuff!  The Mom didn't expect him to do that - she was just telling him about me.  I am going to start it today or tomorrow - as soon as the Mom has the medicine.  She says she has to give it in an injection, which I really don't like, but she says it will help me feel a lot better.  She has had leaky eyes lately because she hates to see me hurting.

Today, we are thankful for long-time friends and J's generosity!  He is a good friend to the Mom and cares about me and Carmine, too.  Even though things have been tough with all the vet bills, we are beyond blessed to have such generous friends who help us when they can.  We really hope we can pay it forward someday to our friends in need, too.
