The True Tails of Baker and Taylor Book Review and Giveaway

The True Tails of Baker and Taylor book cover
When assistant librarian, Jan Louch, and a co-worker discovered mice in the library, they decided it would be a good idea to get a couple of cats.  Within a couple of years, Jan and her co-worker acquired a couple of Scottish Folds for the library and named them Baker and Taylor.  Little did they know at the time, but the cats would become so much more than mousers.

When Jan agreed to a photo shoot of the two cats for a Baker & Taylor poster, the cats became instant celebrities.  Children from across the country wrote to the cats, and fans from all over came to the library to meet them.  The cats ended up becoming the most famous library cats in the world.

In The True Tails of Baker and Taylor: The Library Cats Who Left Their Pawprints on a Small Town...and the World, Jan Louch looks back at the lives of these two celebrity library cats.

I really enjoyed reading about the lives of Baker and Taylor.  These two precious cats had a huge impact on everyone they met from library staff and patrons to fans around the world.  I laughed when reading about the cats' antics and was saddened when tragedy struck.  Yes, tragedy does strike in this book.  As much as we'd all love for our cats to live forever, they don't.  However, the joy in this book far outweighs the cats' passing.

I would highly recommend this book to any cat lover.  It's inspiring to see how many lives Baker and Taylor touched.

  6. I have met cats who were residence in a bookstore and a shop that sold mystical items but all the libraries I've been in have not had a library cat. Probably because they worry about people who might have allergies to cats. This book looks like it is one that will be read more than once. Thanks for including it on your blog. robeader53@yahoo.com
