Jewel's Journey

When I first met sweet Jewel, she didn't have any kitty blankets or beds to sleep in, and it made me very sad for her.  In my opinion, every kitty should have a special bed (or two or three...) or fleece blanket (or five) that is all their own.

One Christmas I got her a green fleece blanket (and she LOVED IT!).

So I thought she might also enjoy a kitty cube (Carmine sure does!).  I got one of these cute kitty cubes with blue flowers and green leaves on it for her to enjoy.

I put the cube by her former owner's bed because she always slept on his bed.  It didn't take long at all for Jewel to discover the comfort this kitty cube could provide her!  She curled up in it and really enjoyed it.

When Jewel came to live with us, she could often be found in this cube or in the pink one.  The cube gave her a nice comfy place to nap and watch me from.  I think she really liked being near me in her comfy cubes (I have one in the bedroom and two in the living room).  Jewel loved all three!

By the way, our sweet friend Crepes and his mom had a psychic reading done for us on our beloved Jewel.  I am still not ready to talk about her last days with me; it is far too painful, but I appreciate so much that the few friends I've shared the experience with have been so supportive.

You can read what the psychic had to say about Jewel over at Cat in the Fridge.  The reading brought me some much needed closure and peace.  Thank you Crepes, Mom Alana, and Nancy!

  15. How sad that Jewel did not have her own blanket or bed until you met her - but you sure made up for that! I read what the psychic said and I am glad this brought you some peace. I think that the bonds we have with some of our animals are so strong that they don't break, but sometimes we have to expand how we experience those bonds.

  17. Jewel was so very lucky to have you and your love. It's clear you had something very special between the two of you. We've had a couple of psychic readings too...and though sometimes they are hard to talk about, we've always felt such comfort and love after them.
