Jewel Update

I thought it was time to give everyone another update about Jewel.

She is eating her k/d kibbles, but she does not like her k/d canned food and won't eat it.  So her daddy called the vet today, and he has a prescription for her to try the Royal Canin LP.  I know several of you mentioned your kitties liked the Purina NF, but I couldn't find any stores that sold it here (Colorado).

Hopefully she will like the Royal Canin stuff better.  She needs to eat her wet noms.

  2. Our kitties never liked their kidney foods either. Maybe some of the premium foods would be suitable? We hope you Jewel is doing better! (We have a Jewell at our blog - our Julie.)

  3. I LOVE that picture!! Our vet sells a lot of the special diet foods, you might check with some of the vets in your area to see if they carry the food you can't find. I hope she eats the wet!! Our former CRF kitty would occasionally boycott his wet K/D but I think it was more about him not feeling well than the food itself.

  4. @The Cat Guy, thanks for the suggestion! If she doesn't like the Royal Canin, I'll start calling around to see if any vets have the Purina stuffs. Our vet only sells the Hill's stuff.

@Oui Oui, that is also a good idea. Emma ate some premium food when she had CRF. I will see if any of them have low protein in case she hates the Royal Canin stuffs!

@The Island Cats, thanks! We hope she likes it too :)

    Hugs to all of you.

  6. I agree... check with other vets for n/f. I think that some vets carry Purina, others Royal Canin, and just about all of them the Science Diet.

I have to admit that when I fed canned to my previous CRF cats, it was often not perscription. Usually I was in the "please just EAT" mode at that point. There are some good (not quite up to date) tables with phosphorous and protien content in commercial foods here http://www.felinecrf.org/food_data_tables.htm#dry_matter_analysis that might help if Jewel needs non-prescription canned food.

  8. Sammy eats KD wet with chicken, which apparently is more palatable than regular KD wet. In any case, we sure hope sweet Jewel starts eating her CRF foods regularly, and soon!

    Hugs!

  9. Oh... poor little Jewel. I sure do hope she starts eating her wet food more. Wet food is important, you know? Especially if you're a kitty that doesn't drink a lot of water and ESPECIALLY if the wet food has your meds in it. I'll send along some purrs for her. Extra-strenghth purrs... okay? purrs
