Summer Open House at Independent Cat Society

Tonight, I was looking at cat sanctuaries and rescues in my home state, Indiana, and found the Independent Cat Society.  The Independent Cat Society is a no-kill cat shelter, which is something I really love.  It really breaks my heart when shelters euthanize animals for any reason.

If you live in the area, I would really encourage you to attend the Independent Cat Society's (ICS) summer open house on Saturday June 23 or Sunday June 24.  The open house will be taking place from 10am to 4pm on June 23 and from 1pm to 4pm on June 24.  The shelter is located on the northeast corner of US Highway 6 and County Line Road in Westville Indiana.

The 3 Old Cat Ladies Cafe will be open and offering refreshments for sale.  Additionally, birdhouses, catnip mats, home baked goods, garden cats, cat toys, T-shirts, plants for the garden and more will be available for purchase.

You can also check out the Rainbow Bridge Garden.  The garden's grand opening will also be taking place on June 23.

Of course, while you're there, you should visit all the adorable cats and kittens available for adoption at ICS. :)

The adoption fee for cats and kittens at ICS is $75 for the first cat and $25 for a second companion cat.  Each feline available for adoption has been spayed or neutered, has received a veterinary examination and gotten any medical care he or she needed, is up-to-date on all vaccinations, and has an identification tattoo or a microchip.  All felines have also received feline leukemia and FIV tests and treatment for worms, tics, and fleas.  You will also get a cardboard carrier, a subscription to the Independent Cat Society newsletter, and a free vet exam at any participating veterinarian within two weeks of adoption.

If you would like to learn more about the Independent Cat Society, their adoption process, or see their cats available for adoption, you can visit the organization's website here.

If you decide to go to this event, please let us know how it was!  This sounds like a good place for kitties to wait for forever homes.  May all the precious babies find them soon! :)
