Tabby Tuesday
First, we want to say a big thank you to everyone who left kind, encouraging words, hugs, purrs, prayers, and/or love on our last post. You all never cease to amaze us with how kind, thoughtful, and caring you are. We are so fortunate and happy to be part of this big cat blogging family!
Sometimes Mommy just gets so sad/upset about how much faster Jewel's CRF has been progressing compared to Angel Emma's. As the vet has told her, though, every kitty's CRF is different and there's no way of knowing how fast each will progress through.
Speaking of Jewel......mommy originally got this orange kitty-thing for Carmine because he liked to curl up in the warm laundry right when it came out of the dryer. Jewel likes to curl up by the heater to stay warm, so mommy decided Jewel might like this little orange kitty.
See - sometimes this little orange thing gets nice and warm!
The Mom: You can put the orange kitty in the microwave for 30 seconds to make it warm. Jewel seems to like it. :)
Jewel seems to like the Fancy Feast Fish and Shrimp Feast the best out of all the stuffs mommy has tried to feed her. Mom says she wants to give Jewel a variety as she's afraid Jewel will get bored eating the same thing all the time.
So we were wondering......what's YOUR favorite brand and kind of smelly (canned) noms? Mom says she'll try anything out to see if Jewel will eat it!

Worried
I'm scared and worried about Jewel.
Yesterday, she didn't eat much. I hope she just didn't like that flavor.
Tonight, she threw up a couple of times.
I know I shouldn't let every little change scare me, but it does, and my intuition says it should.
I don't want her to cross the Bridge. I never want her to cross the Bridge. I know that's not possible, but I wish it were.

Jewel Goes to the Vet
Yesterday, I woke up really really really early and took Jewel to the vet for another blood pressure check. I made the decision to take her myself as her dad's house is stressful on her and I figured it would not provide for an accurate blood pressure read for her to be very stressed out for a few days before her appointment.
Jewel's blood pressure is now NORMAL!! Personally, I think this is due to a combination of a much less stressful environment and her medication. She will remain on the tiny dose of medication she's on.
Unfortunately, she's lost a tremendous amount of weight, again. :( She's lost 5.5 more ounces in the past 3 weeks, which takes her down to 8 pounds 9 ounces. I noticed she wasn't eating a lot the past few days, but she's been eating better than she had been in general, so I decided it was time to ask the vet about the a/d. The vet agreed this would be a good idea to try, so we are now mixing it gradually into her wet food and feeding her *three* times a day. Essentially, she gets to eat whatever she wants, whenever she wants.
She seems to like the a/d which is a big relief! Plus, she won't necessarily *have* to eat as much of it if she isn't hungry as she would a normal food given its high in calories. :)
I just hope she will gain some weight. I worry about hers.

RIP Eric
We just found out that our good friend Eric has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We are simply heartbroken over this news.
Rest in peace, our wonderful friend. We know that Emma and so many others will be waiting to greet you at the Bridge.

Thankful Thursday and a Jewel Update
Do you remember this post when Carmine wanted to help me with my writing application? Well....I WAS ACCEPTED!! I've already written my first article, and I'm working on my second now. I'm really excited about this; it's opened up a lot of new possibilities for me and my fur babies :)
In other news, a while back, I won a copy of "Love Saves the Day," from Cat Wisdom 101. I got the book in the mail the other day, and I'm so excited to read it!!
A couple of you were asking about Jewel on my last blog post. THANK YOU!! It so warms my heart to know that you all care about her and want to know how she is. The cat community is just full of amazing kitties and people :)
Jewel has been with me for about two and a half weeks now. I must say that she seems *much more* relaxed and less stressed than she was before. She's claimed all the fleece blankets as HERS, and she gets upset if Carmine is on the purple one on the couch if she wants it.
She's been taking her blood pressure meds for about three weeks now. I think she's tired of the chicken pill pockets, though, so I'm going to see if they come in any other flavors.
She'll go to the vet next week sometime to get her blood pressure checked again. She's not going to like that.... She'll also need to be weighed again. I don't know if it's me being overly cautious/sensitive or not, but it feels like she might be losing a little more weight.
Some days, she eats a lot of food. Others, not so much. She's eating more than she was on average everyday than she was previously, though, so that's something. I'm figuring out which flavors of food she likes and which ones she's not crazy about. She loves Fancy Feast fish and shrimp feast; she went nuts over that one, even having seconds!!
I'm hoping the vet has a good report for her when she goes. Jewel has been through too much lately.

"Lucky Day" Art Show
MaxFund is holding a great fundraiser next Friday. From the information presented, I think any art lover will really enjoy this event!
The "Lucky Dog" Art Show will take place on Friday March 15, 2013 from 5 to 10PM at Wazee Union. Wazee Union is located at 3501 Wazee St., Denver, CO 80216. The show will feature art from local and national artists, provide entertainment, and offer refreshments from the "Pink Tank" food truck. Admission is free and all proceeds from poster and postcard sales will go toward helping homeless animals at MaxFund find forever homes.
The "Lucky Day" Art Show will have posters and postcards available for purchase from 11 local and national artists, who created these pieces specifically for this event. The artists include Joe King, Lizzie Mara, Larry Hubbell, Nick Hill, SuperFluent Design, Liz Harper, Justin Maies, Jennifer Stock, Valerie Caldwell, Jax Quackenbush, and Jessie McNally. The art show will also feature some local artists, such as John Johnson, Mitt Denny, Thomas Robertson, Andrea Fast Artwork, and Benjamin Smith Photo.
Entertainment will also be provided during the event. A fire troop performance by Slouar Flair, a wood block printing tutorial by Larry Hubbell, an aerialist performance by Art du Vol, and live screen printing by SuperFluent Design make up the entertainment line-up for the evening.
MaxFund is a local no-kill animal shelter for homeless dogs and cats in Denver, Colorado.

My name is Milita, and I am cute and gray.
I was born in June - not in May.
I have a little brother named Carmine.
I pretend he annoys me most of the time.
I have emerald eyes and fluffy orange fur.
I like to wake my mommy by walking all over her.
I love my crinkly balls and catnip mice.
When the humans play board games, I try to steal their dice.
I’m really picky about what I will eat,
But sometimes I’ll do a trick for my favorite treat.
I nap in the cube that’s pink.
