MaxFund Black Tie Fundraiser

I received an e-mail about this event and wanted to pass along the details as I know MaxFund does some great work.  I hope some of you can go to it or will pass the information along to any family or friends who might live in the area.

MaxFund is a no-kill non-profit animal shelter.  The organization takes in injured, abandoned, and abused animals, nurtures and cares for them, and finds them good forever homes.  Something that impresses me is that they care for and find good forever homes for special needs animals as well.  As an owner of a special needs cat, I can appreciate the extra care special needs babies need (and they are *totally* worth it, by the way!).  They also provide low-cost veterinary services to pet owners, such as spay and neuter, dental, vaccinations, and x-rays.

On October 13, 2012, MaxFund will hold its largest annual fundraiser, "Puttin' on the Max."  This year's theme is "Tails of the Night," which was inspired by all of the great stories the animals at MaxFund Animal Adoption Center have.

The fundraiser is a black tie event, featuring Jim Benemann as emcee for the night.  Jim Benemann is an anchor with Channel 4.  There will be a live and a silent auction with items to bid on, entertainment provided by the Cleo Parker Robinson Dancers, and a pet parade.  The event will begin at 5:30pm with a cocktail hour and silent auction.

This year, the event will also include a raffle.  You do *not* have to be present at the event to win the raffle prizes.  First prize is a two night stay at Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.  Second prize is a two night stay at Reserve Hotel in Central City.  Third prize is a one-night stay at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, including breakfast.

Tickets for "Puttin' on the Max" are $100 each, $175 for a couple, or $900 for a table of 10 people.  You can purchase tickets at MaxFund Animal Adoption Center, located at 720 W. 10th. Ave., Denver, CO 80204.  Alternatively, you an purchase tickets from this website.

If you would like more information on this event, you may visit the MaxFund website or contact Shannon Van Dzura who is MaxFund's Events Director by e-mail at shannon@maxfund.org.

We missed out on this, but a lot of you can still get a free sample of the dog or cat foods!

Hill's Pet Nutrition is touring the United States, giving away samples of its Science Diet Ideal Balance cat and dog food.  The Hill's website says that Ideal Balance is an all-natural pet food containing ingredients like fresh fruits and vegetables, beef, and chicken.

The Science Diet Ideal Balance Pet Cafe will be making several more stops in the next couple of months.  Truck stops will include:

  • The Big E, West Springfield, MA - September 20-23

Mo' Cats Day

We don't know who would say something so awful!!!  We is glad Mo' Cats Day was created to celebrate how special we cats really are! :)

Milita here.  I think every human should have a sweet, demanding, attention-seeking Siamese like myself to keep them in line!  Who can resist obeying the demands of the beautiful Siamese cat?

Oh....I guess my brother, Carmine is okay at training the humans, too, but I don't think he's pushy enough.  He's too patient.  He needs to take a page from my book if he wants to be a master at training the humans! MOL!

I must go now and get my mommy to love on me more.  It's her job, you know!

HAPPY MO' CATS DAY, EFFERYONE!!!  REMEMBER TO CELEBRATE YOUR CATS TODAY AND EVERYDAY BECAUSE WE DESERVE IT!! :)

We're Moved!

We wanted to let everyone know that we are now moved in to our new place.  It is still quite a mess as I have a lot to unpack, but I am doing my best to pace myself with the pain and all.

A couple of days before we left our old place, we received a set of pots and pans!!!  I cannot find my little receipt to save my life right now, so I'm so sorry I can't thank you specifically - yet - but we really, really appreciate the gift!!  I seriously don't know what I would have done if those hadn't come because I had almost nothing to cook with.  They came at the absolute perfect time!

The babies are handling the changes all right.  It's odd.....I was really worried about Carmine and yet he took it MUCH better than I thought he would.  I wasn't all that worried about Milita because she seems to like exploring new places, but she was rather upset this time.  I think it has a lot to do with being away from the roommates she really liked at our old place.  I think she misses them, especially her favorite one.

Milita was hiding for the majority of each day from Saturday until this evening.  She's finally out here exploring, bugging me, playing - doing all the things she usually would, so I think she's less upset now :)

We just wanted to give everyone an update.  We hope you are all well and having a good week!
