I am thankful for (Milita)

Mommy says I should do this, too.
I am thankful for:
- The meata mommy feeds me.
- My bed -- especially when Carmine isn't in it!
- Windows to look out of.
- Mommy's friend who gives me lots of attention.
- Catnip mice!

I am thankful for (Carmine)

Mommy says I should say what I am thankful for, so here it is:

- Having nice soft blankets to sleep on.

- For having a sister to play with.

- For having good food to eat.

- For having a mommy that loves me.

- For Milita's bed. ;)

- For having a warm house to live in.

- That mommy lets me sleep with her at night.

Thanksgiving preparation caution

As you prepare your Thanksgiving dinners, please remember to keep sweets away from your cats. Chocolate, in particular, is very bad for cats - it contains caffeine and theobromine, both of which are stimulants and can cause negative side-effects for your kitty.

Some signs that your kitty may have ingested chocolate include: vomiting, diarrhea, increased heart rate, tremors, hyperactivity, increased thirst, seizures, and increased urination.

If you suspect your kitty ingested chocolate, please call your vet, local animal hospital, or the ASPCA 24-hour assistance hotline: 888-426-4435.

Here's to a Happy Thanksgiving for you and your kitties!

Kitties need good homes in Denver

Rumor has it that the Denver Humane Society is closing because they lost their funding due to bad press.

They have a lot of cats that need good homes. If you want a kitty (or another kitty), please adopt from them.

They may even give you the kitty for free.

A friend of mine reports that if they don't find homes for the kitties, they will have to euthanize them.

Please pass this information along to anyone who may benefit from it.

Thanks!

Ideas?

Carmine has been acting out behaviorally ever since Emma passed away. He walks around and cries ("talks") a lot, he bothers Milita more often than he used to by stealing her bed and by antagonizing her until she hisses and/or growls. He will back her into corners and won't let her get out.

Sometimes he also is very insistent about waking me up at night by kneading my face or meowing incessantly.

I have tried to give him extra attention and to lay in my lap more often. I have tried to pet him more than usual.

Sometimes, when he is being really naughty to Milita, I put him in "time out" in the bathroom for a little bit so he calms down.

But none of this seems to be helping and I'm not sure what else to do. I know I'm supposed to be the cat "expert" here, but I've never had a grieving cat before and I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any ideas?
